Who We Are - Mission
The Vermont Green Building Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing Vermonts participation in green building and to promoting the environmental, financial, community, and health benefits of green design, construction, and building operation practices. We are builders, designers, developers, policy makers, service providers, and other building industry professionals working together to improve building practices in Vermont.
VGBN is proud to be a chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC)
What We Do - Goals
Promote collaboration among individuals and organizations that provide or use green building services, products, and technologies.
Advocate for green building practices and sustainable development.
Educate the public and building professionals about green design, construction, and building operations.
Increase use and sales of Vermont green building services, products, and technologies.
Increase the percentage of Vermont buildings that are green buildings.

A Brief History of VGBN
December 2002 Initial meeting of Green Building Group of Vermont
January-June 2003 Monthly steering committee meetings
March 6, 2003 Public organizational meeting. Initial committees: Fundraising, Networking, Message/Mission
April 2003 Network Road Show local outreach / feedback workshops
Summer 2003 Obtained Vermont Department of Public Service grant to develop website, prepare publications, and develop database
2003 Established our mission initiatives and goals
Fall 2003 Developed bylaws and incorporated in Vermont as a non-profit.
December 2003 Launched VGBN.org web site
January 23, 2004 Annual meeting with feedback groups
March 2004 Strategic planning lead to formation of 4 committees: Administrative, Education, Advocacy, and Public Realtions/Communications.
Fall 2004 Approved sponsorship policy
December 2004 Strategic planning session with Advisory Board and development Consultant
April 2005 VGBN becomes Vermont chapter of the US Green Building Council
July 2005 VGBN organized into 4 committees: Development, Education, Advocacy, and Communications.
February 2006 VGBN is recognized as a public charity and receives 501(c)(3) status.
