VGBN Seeks Web Designer
The Vermont Green Building Network is excited to [publically] distribute the RFP below for a complete redesign of the VGBN.org web site.
The RFP is written to solicit responses from a broad range of web site design and implementation service providers, and as such includes questions oriented toward the entire spectrum of providers from small to large. VGBN is open to working with with any size provider provided they meet our needs and qualifications. Aspects of this RFP are negotiable, but we needed a place to start and so decided to start with the most comprehensive view.
Proposals are due April 17, 2009. Please feel free to ask any questions of me, Tom Good, and I will try to provide and distribute the answers we give to
all invited and known respondents [in the form of Addendum posted below]. We have invited 8 firms to respond, and will also post information on our web site [for other firms interested in submitting a proposal]. VGBN has budgeted a substantial, but confidential amount [revised by addendum below], of funds for this project. I look forward to your questions, comments, and suggestions.
VGBN Web Site RFP Addendum ONE issued March 13, 2009
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vermont Green Building Network Web Site REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL dated March 4, 2009 is hereby modified and with the following superseding information:
BUDGET: VGBN has budgeted a maximum of $15,000 in total for the web site redesign project. VGBN will consider costs competitively, amongst other factors, in evaluating proposals.
SCHEDULE: VGBN has no set schedule for web site development and implementation and will develop a schedule in conjunction with the vendor. Please respond to question 4.2 with a reasonable expectation for implementation based on your experience in working with volunteer non-profit organizations. VGBN would like to spend the time necessary for the process to produce the intended results but not more time than is necessary. A time frame of two (2) to six (6) months would be reasonable and is negotiable.
VENDOR LOCATION: Vendor's place of business must be in the United States or Canada. Vendor must receive payment in US dollars. Meeting between the Vendor and VGBN may be either face-to-face or by phone & web conferencing. An initial face-to-face meeting is desired by not required.
VGBN Web Site RFP Addendum TWO issued April 13, 2009
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vermont Green Building Network Web Site REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL dated March 4, 2009 and Addendum One dated March 13, 2009 is hereby modified and with the following superseding information:
PROPOSALS: The VGBN web site RFP describes a good case solution. All aspects of the RFP are negotiable, as for just one instance, the particular language of the proposed agreement. The information in the RFP is intended to describe VGBN's web site needs to a potential vendor. We would appreciate that vendors use their practice as a professional consultant in making proposals which indicate how vendor's proposed solution may meet our needs.
SIZE OF VENDOR FIRM: [From cover letter now formally part of RFP] The RFP is written to solicit responses from a broad range of web site design and implementation service providers, and as such includes questions oriented toward the entire spectrum of providers from small to large. VGBN is open to working with any size provider provided they meet our needs and qualifications. Aspects of this RFP are negotiable, but we needed a place to start and so decided to start with the most comprehensive view.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION: Include the level of detailed financial information with which you feel comfortable. The more information we receive, the better we will be able to evaluate the qualifications of your company.
AVAILABLE RESOURCES: Anything we would want to reuse from our site is available for reuse.
USER CONTENT CLARIFICATION: The creation of most individual pages and the contents thereof would be user creatable.
DYNAMIC GREEN PAGES: Examples of more 'dynamic' VGBN Green pages are: a) Ability of users to leave feedback, b) ability for users to port data to other major national online green building product and services databases such as http://chapters.usgbc.org/vgbn/SurveyofGreenBuildingProductandServicesOnlineDatabases.htm, c) ability of listers to show membership, sponsorship, accreditation, in VGBN AND other partnership organizations, d) easy of use as public networking site, e) ability of listers to link to (and dynamically update on VGBN Green Pages listing from their "feed" be it web site or social bookmark.)
